Rangers took the lead on seven minutes when Robbie Fraser’s superb cross from the left was finished by Robbie Ure with a simple header past David Wilson. The lead was doubled within a minute when Connor Allan broke into the right side of the box and picked out Bailey Rice who was initially denied by David Wilson but followed up to score from the rebound. Rangers really should have scored a third on the quarter hour mark, Arron Lyall’s pass inside Matthew McDonald sent Jack Harkness to the right hand byline, when he played the ball across goal Ross McCausland looked sure to score at the back post but knocked the ball wide. On twenty minutes a good passing move ended with Robbie Ure releasing Ross McCausland inside the right side of the box but he shot wide of the far post.

The visitors reduced the deficit with their first real threat on goal midway through the half, from a free kick around ten yards inside Rangers half Matthew McDonald sent the ball to the left side of the box where Kirk Broadfoot headed back across goal for Jamie Semple to head past Lewis Budinauckas. A couple of minutes before the half hour mark Jamie Semple produced a neat turn on the right hand angle of the box before shooting narrowly wide of the far post.

Rangers then hit Broomhill with two goals in the final four minutes of the half. from Lewis Budinauckas’s long ball forward Robbie Ure flicked on to send Arron Lyall clear to continue into the box and slot past David Wilson. Rangers fourth and Arron Lyall’s second soon followed, a fine passing move ended with Ross McCausland teeing up the winger to beat David Wilson from the edge of the box.

It took Rangers only four minutes into the second half to extend their lead, Johnly Yfeko played the ball out to Jack Harkness wide on the right and his low cross was converted by Robbie Ure at the near post. A further seven minutes had passed when Jamie Semple’s shot from fully thirty-five yards seemed to deceive Lewis Budinauckas as it found the net.

The game was inside the final twenty minutes when Broque Watson picked out Callum Wilson with a cutback from the left and it took a brilliant Lewis Budinauckas save low to his right to deny Broomhill a third goal. With nine minutes remaining some slack play from Johnly Yfeko allowed Ryan Tierney to break clear but a heavy touch allowed Lewis Budinauckas to save at the attacker’s feet.
