For many weeks now we have seen the pressure mounting on the manager and rightfully so, you can’t be this number of points behind Celtic and not be under pressure. For me, the league is gone after the debacle in Paisley but is the manager really the root of the problem? For me, that lies with the players.

Leaving Ibrox on Wednesday 24th November 2010 after Wayne Rooney scored a late penalty to secure a 1-0 win for Man Utd over Rangers, I didn’t quite expect it to be 12 years before I heard that music again at Ibrox.

Six matches played. Six defeats, 22 goals conceded and just two scored. It's safe to say our CL Group Stage stats don't make for good reading as Rangers exit Europe for season 2022/23 in a campaign that, so far at least, just hasn't got going at all in Europe or domestically. Just what has gone wrong?

Last season for Rangers fans was very much one of ups and downs. From the incredible high of beating RB Leipzig to reach the Europa League final to the low of surrendering our league title to Celtic, it's fair to say 2021/22 was somewhat of a roller-coaster. However, finishing the season by beating Hearts in the Scottish Cup final - despite the pain of losing in Seville - pointed to a positive future with a squad who believed in their quality and were fit enough to compete on several fronts.
