Chahine Van Bohemen had Ajax’s first chance in the fourth minute bursting into the left side of the penalty area, Jacob Pazikas parried the shot and was fortunate when it fell for a Rangers defender. Three minutes later the visitors took the lead, David Kalokoh inside the left side of the box produced a great piece of skill to make space to pick his spot in the far bottom corner of the net.

Ajax’s next chance came when Skye Vink went past a defender on the left before passing inside for Olaf Gorter to shoot narrowly over from around twenty-five yards. Around the midpoint of the half Jorrel Hato broke forward from defence and passed to David Kalokoh on the left, he picked out Chahine Van Bohemem’s run into the box but the full-back shot into the side netting.

On twenty-five minutes Rangers were reduced to ten men, Bailey Rice was shown a straight red card for hauling Skye Vink back on the edge of the box when the striker broke clear. David Kalokoh fired the resultant free-kick just over. Rangers then drew level with their first real chance just before the half-hour mark, Jack Harkness battled his way to the byline inside the right side of the penalty area, his ball across goal found Robbie Ure who saw his effort headed off the line by Tristan Gooijer but only as far as Ross McCausland who netted from close range.

Incredibly Rangers took the lead nine minutes before the break, Zak Lovelace broke on the right and continued into the penalty area, his cross was cleared to the edge of the box where Ross McCausland was on hand to shoot past Paul Reverson. A couple of minutes before the half-time Zak Lovelace broke through the inside right channel and with Robbie Ure in a great position to his left he tried to make the pass but the ball was intercepted and the danger cleared.

Rangers were made to pay for that intercepted pass when Ajax drew level in first half stoppage time, David Kalokoh cutting in from the left past a defender and shooting into Jacob Pazikas’s bottom right hand corner.

A brilliant Lewis MacKinnon challenge prevented Ajax taking the lead early in the second half. Raphael Sarto tried to pick out Yoram Boerhout on the edge of the six yard box but the Rangers defender thwarted the danger. A minute later David Kalokoh broke into the right side of the box and picked out Stains Idumbo-Muzambo at the back post but he could only find the side netting.

Rangers were pinned back and Ajax took the lead on fifty-five minutes, Stains Idumbo-Muzambo hit the left hand byline and played the ball across goal for Raphael Sarto to score from close range. A fourth goal soon followed, when the ball was cleared from Rangers penalty area it was gathered by Chahine Van Bohemen who fired into the keeper’s bottom left hand corner.

With the midpoint of the half approaching the visitors scored again, Skye Vink made his way to the right hand byline before picking out Rida Chahid who found the net from around eight yards. With twelve minutes remaining Rico Speksnijder picked out Raphael Sarto inside the right side of the box with Jacob Pazikas making the save, the rebound fell for David Kalokoh but Jacob Pazikas stuck out a leg to divert the shot on to his left hand post.

A sixth goal followed in the final minute, Raphael Sarto playing Yoram Boerhout through to shoot past Jacon Pazikas. Rangers had barely been out their half after the break but had a chance deep into injury time with James Graham breaking into the left side of the box but his shot was weak and Paul Reverson saved easily.
