Trivia

Jock Wallace resigned at the end of the season - 23rd May 1978. The precise cause was never fully established as Wallace maintained silence until his death in 1996. Most of the speculation centred on alleged disputes with the Rangers board (and with Willie Waddell in particular) about transfer budgets or Wallace's own salary.

Rangers won their fourth treble in this season!

Players who arrived at the club this year included the late, great Davie Cooper as well as Gordon Smith and Bobby Russell.
