Trivia
Once again, due to the continuing World War II, crowds were limited because of nearby Govan shipyards.
Rangers beat Celtic 8-1 in the New Year's Day fixture between the clubs. This is a record winning margin for an Old Firm match - though again not always formally recogised because of the war period. See below for a press cutting.
