Trivia

The 1896 Scottish Cup Final between Hearts and Hibs was the first and only one to be held out of Glasgow. The game was played at Logie Green Park, Edinburgh - the then home to St Bernard's, a major third force in Edinburgh football who had won the Scottish Cup the previous year.

Originally formed in 1895, the Glasgow League was one of several 'supplementary leagues' that were created in order to increase the number of fixtures for Scottish Football League clubs. The original version disbanded in 1899 when the member clubs joined with Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian to form the Inter City League. It was reformed in 1904 but this lasted for only two seasons.
