With the Latvian League now finished for 2015, second placed Skonto have permitted striker Vladislavs Gutkovskis to join Rangers on trial.
The striker is highly regarded in Latvia and scored 10 goals in 22 appearances in the 2015 Latvian First Division for one of Baltic football's highest regarded clubs. The forward also scored for Latvia under 21s in a European qualifier last month. In recent weeks, some fans have suggested Rangers need a taller presence in attack and at almost 6'2", Gutkovskis would definitely provide that. As an aside, former Dundee Utd and Scotland defender Garry Kenneth also played for Skonto in the 2015 season.
With the 2016 Latvian league not due to start until next March, that leaves plenty of time for Rangers and Skonto to do a deal should the trial be successful.
