The 2021-22 Scottish Premiership has already begun, and 12 of the best teams will pit their wits against each other for the title. Last year, Rangers took the Scottish Premiership title, stopping their rivals Celtic from winning the Premiership for the tenth time in a row.

The Scottish Premiership is the highest division of Scottish football. Bookmakers take advantage of this and offer different types of football wagers attracting huge betting action. Many bettors believe that this year, Rangers will secure the Scottish Premiership title again. But the team failed to win the Old Firm derby, which some sports fans believe is the most important match in the league. The Scottish Premiership will wrap up in May 2022, when it will become clear which team will clinch the title.

Celtic vs Rangers - The Old Firm Derby

The Old Firm derby was a highly-anticipated match. Rangers appeared on the field as the absolute odds-on favourites. The Old Firm derby took place on 2nd February, with Celtic sealing a 3:0 win against Rangers. This was Celtic’s first win over Rangers since 2019. During the match, all eyes were on the Japanese footballer Reo Hatate who scored two goals for Celtic. The Israeli professional footballer Liel Abada scored the third goal.

In an interview, the manager of Scottish Premiership club Rangers, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, explained that Rangers could do a better job on the field. He added that his team still has a good chance of winning the Scottish Premiership title. Bronckhorst could not hide his disappointment because this was his first defeat as a manager of the Rangers.

The Odds Stack in Favour of Celtic

Now, Celtic are the new favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title. Rangers had 13 games unbeaten in the league before Celtic blew them away in the Old Firm derby. After winning the match against Rangers, Celtic celebrated its 18th consecutive win in the league. Rangers are now one point behind their biggest rivals - Celtic.

For just two weeks, Celtic took the lead, and at the moment, the odds for them to win their 52nd title stand at 1/2. Rangers remain second-favourites at 6/4. However, Rangers still have a good chance of stacking the odds of their favour because a week ago, Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey joined Rangers on a loan until the end of the season.
